Oleksandra Bibik is currently working as a PhD researcher at the University of Lille, France. In 2019, she worked in the position of “specialist of Japanese culture” at the International Organisation for Migration (IOM, UN, Ukrainian branch of the UN). In 2021, she worked for the International Institute of Islamic Thought (VA, VA, US) under the research grant “History of Islam in Japan”.
In 2024, she became laureate of the Nichibunken Academic Encouragement Award, which is designed to honor outstanding research in Japanese Studies from an international perspective by the International Research Centre for Japanese Studies of the National Institute of Humanities (Kyoto, Japan). The award allows her to conduct a research internship at the Nichibunken Centre in Kyoto in the position of a Research Fellow.
Oleksandra became a member of the Workshop for Academic Study of Religions in 2016. From 2016 to 2022, she was a member of the WASR board.
Research interests: Pan-Asianism, history of religions in Japan, Islam in Japan, Japanese folklore.
